Open to everyone and free to attend, Hammer and Tongue Brighton invites you to share your spoken word poetry on International Women's Day
Hosted by Hammer & Tongue Brighton, join us for an afternoon of spoken word poetry and girl power at the Fountainhead. Whether you want to share your words on the mic, or just sit back and listen, everyone is welcome.
International Women's Day is a global day celebrating the social, cultural, and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender equality through shining a light on persistent issues like gender-based violence and unequal access to education and opportunities. It aims to mobalize action for equality through encouraging individuals, communities, and organisations to take steps toward creating a more inclusive and equitable world for women.
HOW TO PERFORM IN THE OPEN MIC: Book yourself an ‘Open Mic Performer Ticket’. Each poet will have a maximum of 4 minutes to perform. We welcome poets of all gender identities to join the open mic, however, if you don't identify as a woman, please ensure that your poem fits the theme of International Women's Day.
